Mexico City, a vast capital perched at over 2,200 metres of altitude, is best savoured neighbourhood by neighbourhood. The Centro Histórico, a World Heritage site, spreads around the Zócalo with the cathedral, the Aztec Templo Mayor and the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Further south, the tree-lined colonias Roma and Condesa concentrate cafés, restaurants and designer boutiques in a relaxed Art Deco atmosphere. Coyoacán, further south still, charms with its bohemian, village-like feel and is home to Frida Kahlo's Casa Azul. The vast Chapultepec park, one of the largest in the world, houses the superb National Museum of Anthropology.
